Why aren't the Fine Arts Taken Seriously?

Constantly, as many people are told that when they grow, they should pursue any job except for being an artist. And, it is seen that in data and statistics that artists are one of the most underpaid jobs. They are constantly exploited and are not getting the recognition they deserve.
