There is a lot of controversy around whether art should be censored or not. When Louvre redacted an artist's sculpture showing a man engaging in a sexual activity with a four-legged creature (shown in the image above), this sparked the debate on the discrepancy between the artist's intentions behind the work versus the public's (or at least the Louvre museum directors') interpretations of the work. I think art should be censored only if it is culturally, historically, or racially offensive (or to any other important social values). The beauty of art is that it gives a ground for people to express themselves freely. Yet, there's also the risk that art cannot be interpreted totally different from the designer's motives compared to literary works.
