Powerful CGI
Thor from <Avengers>. The lightning strikes on his hammer and suit were created with computer graphics imagery (CGI).
This character from <Avatar> was made solely from CGI.
In the recent years, the movie industry has moved towards increasingly incorporating computer-generated imageries (CGI). CGI definitely makes the movie more captivating to the audience as the technical directors can create effects that are not possible in the real world. Depending on the amount of CGI employed in the movie, the movie production cost can soar significantly. Still, the fact that more and more movie-makers are relying on CGI speaks for the demand for computer graphics from both the employers (movie companies) and customers (movie-goers). I thought about this a lot when I was watching the new Avengers series recently. All the CGI made the movie more engaging, and filled with action, but I found it more interesting how the movie industry went from hiring actual actors to creating characters from computers in such a short span of time.
