Interesting Stuff from a Philly Artist: 57 Varieties by Alex Da Corte
Hey everybody!
Check out this super cool exhibit put on by Alex Da Corte, a Philly based artist! The piece explores how his identity was shaped through TV and media as a child, and it takes on a pretty intriguing structure involving a performance component in which Alex dresses up, full costume and make up, as many of these household name characters from children's shows. He reenacts particular scenes that he finds meaningful and surrounds himself with extensive and vibrant set decoration. It makes for some pretty cool and funky results. It also blurs the line between performance and display, combining the two.
