Salon des Refusés

The rejection of some of the project proposals reminded me of the Salon des Refusés, which means "exhibition of rejects" in french. In the 19th century, artists whose works were rejected by the official art academy, the Salon, came together and organized their own exhibition. Many of the rejected artworks were from artists who we now greatly respect, such as Manet and Courbet. I think this shows that artworks can be valuable even without official recognition from authorities.
