Public Art at BU - 'I Will Walk with You'
This public art installation was created by a student at BU who wanted to address the topic of sexual violence and raise awareness. The project involved spray-painting and using stencils to create the different words and designs on the pavement. Although the message of the piece is clear through the phrase 'I will walk with you' (as the student wanted sexual violence survivors to know they are not alone), there was equal importance in the location and space the piece was created in. The spray-painting footprints actually follow a path across the campus that leads to the front door of BU's Sexual Assault Response & Prevention Center. This is an example of how the space of the artwork is one of the most important factors to consider.
