'CREATE' by Seitu Jones
When looking online at examples of public art projects and interventions, I came across this project titled CREATE which focused on generating discussion about 'food traditions, attitudes, rituals and access'. The project was led by Seitu Jones and took place between 2013 and 2015. The actual installation involved a half-mile long table set in the middle of a street where over 2000 people would come and share a meal. The menu was inspired by a number of cultures from around the world and the produce was locally grown by organic farmers. I liked this example of public art because it makes the audience part of the artwork and it brings to light how artists have the power to affect things like the urban food system.
